Europe Trip 2024

On Sunday, I returned from a 10-day trip to Europe, visiting the cities of Barcelona and Budapest with my son. He spent the past five months in Barcelona studying at Elisava Barcelona School of Design and Engineering. We started thinking and dreaming about this trip last fall after he was accepted into the program.

As I did some planning and budgeting earlier this year, I decided that we could visit just one other location as I wanted to spend time in Barcelona to see the city my son studied in this spring. He suggested that we go to Budapest, Hungary. Hungary is an important thread in my life and he wanted to visit there. He had been there with me in 2005 but was too young to remember.

The plan came together. I flew to Barcelona on a direct flight from Atlanta. With the direct flight being cheaper than connecting flights home from Budapest, I decided we would go to Budapest first using a European economy airline and then come back and enjoy Barcelona before flying back to the States together.

I am chronicling our trip by posting about each day of our trip. Each post will contain details of what we did, my reflections, and plenty of pictures.
