Weeknotes 26:26

Week of June 21–27
It was a pretty slow week at work as I was waiting to get feedback on a couple of projects that will launch at the beginning of July, including the True Woman Conference site I have mentioned over the past few weeks. I took the extra time to read some articles, watch some videos, and work through some tutorials to keep up and learn about some of the newest features in HTML and CSS.
- I worked on improving the mobile experience of our blog page. I removed the images and adjusted the font sizes so that more articles are listed so mobile readers don’t have to scroll as much. I am waiting on some internal reviews before pushing that to production.
- I made updates and edits to several projects that will be launching on July 1. I also added some homepage features and popup ads that will link to these new pages. I also created a new homepage hero that directs users to the True Woman page once it launches.
- I have a personal project that I started over a year ago to capture my memories from Facebook and other places. I spent some time this week scanning some pictures from my first two summer trips to Hungary. I journaled both of those summers and so I am creating memories from both the pictures and my writings. I had arrived in Hungary for my first summer trip on June 21, 1990. It has been fun to revisit those memories. I also got to talk to my Hungarian friend, Laci, who I met that summer. He was in Dallas for a month raising financial support for his ministry.
- I continued getting out with my youngest as she practices her driving to take her road test later in the summer.
- I started working on an article about un-Sassing my site at the end of the week and finished it over the weekend.
It was nice to have a more relaxed week as we approach the end of the month. At the beginning of the month, I was a bit concerned with all the projects that needed to get finished this month. But they all went a lot smoother than I had envisioned and did not take as much time to complete.
What I wrote
Redecoration and un-Sassing my site – Over two months ago, I launched an update to my site. I would feel uncomfortable using the word redesign. Most of the work was behind the scenes.
Caught my eye
Dan Cederholm shared something he made this week. “I love some good type wordplay, this one being an homage to a favorite hat I had twenty years ago from the wonderful online shop, Veer, which is sadly no longer in business. Veer sold type and type-related goods and was run by some great folks. It was inspiring stuff.”

I replied back to him on Bluesky. “I miss Veer. I still have some of their freebies sitting around along with some typography related buttons, including the Serif one. Also still have some desktop wallpapers.” I attached a picture of the buttons, including the Serif one he had on a hat.
