Updating this site
January 2, 2023
I spent time today updating this site. I added “notes.” I have seen others do shorter posts on their sites and decided it was time to implement them here. These also serve as a social feed so that I can own my content. At this point, I am not interested in joining another social network (Mastadon) and I don’t know how much longer I am going to invest in Twitter. This will provide me with a place to post short updates.
I updated some layouts across the sites. I also updated my heading levels. I added some Grid layouts and used clip-path
to achieve the skew in the header and footer without the gymnastics I was doing before. I also decreased the angle so it looks a bit nicer.
Behind the scenes, I enabled the Gutenberg editor and plan to use it instead of the Classic editor moving forward.
Adam Argyle has moved his entire site to this “stream” approach. He is including his blog posts in his stream. I am still trying to determine how I want to integrate the notes into the homepage.
It is just fun to just to play around today. I had the idea for my first note yesterday and decided to take some time to add the new content type to the site. And from there, I decided to make changes like adjusting the heading levels and other CSS updates.
