The Story of Making the Web

This documentary is the wonderful story about the Internet and the people who have built it. But it is also a story about how we have had to change as a culture to meet the new challenges of a mobile Web.

I was excited when the Kickstarter campaign for this film was launched back in May 2014. This is one of the few comprehensive attempts to document the history of this industry that I have been apart of for almost twenty years.

I remember hearing Ethan Marcotte discuss responsive web design on The Big Web Show podcast in the summer of 2010. I realized at that moment that the landscape had changed. I related to what Trent Walton shares in the film as we faced this disruptive moment. I knew that building sites responsively was the way forward. It was both exciting and very uncomfortable because we had to learn new ways to practice our craft.
