MLB The Show – 9/10/2023

September 10, 2023

I really enjoyed playing MLB The Show 23 today. I am playing as the Tampa Bay Rays and the two games I played today were home games against the Minnesota Twins. It is always fun to play the Twins because there are several players on the current team that I saw play here in Chattanooga when the Lookouts were the Twins Double-A affiliate.

In the past, I have posted some videos I have captured from the game and posted on Instagram. But since I am starting to move away from social media, I decided to post them here along with some commentary (for myself) as I relive the joy of playing and winning both games today.

In the first game, Tyler Glasnow pitched six great innings only allowing one hit. I had scored two runs. My bullpen gave up two runs to the Twins in the 7th. But then I came back and scored two in the bottom of the inning. Taylor Walls had two big hits and knocked in two of my 4 runs. But the Twins came back in the 8th and tied it again.

Walls hit passed the first baseman into right field to score Brandon Lowe from second.

I was unable to win the game though I had several chances in the 9th and 10th inning. My bullpen was able to hold the Twins in extra innings. I tried to bunt the runner from second over to third in both the 10th and 11th but popped both of those bunts up and was unable to move the runner.

In the 11th, I was able to move the runner to 3rd on an infield single. I failed to get the run home on the next at-bat. Randy Arozarena came to the plate and hit the ball down the line into left field to walk off the game. I was so glad to end it there and take advantage of the opportunity.

In the second game I played, Zac Elfin pitched 5 great innings, giving up only 1 hit. But then he got knocked around in the 6th and I was down 3-1. I tied the game in the seventh when a Josh Lowe single scored Diaz and Brandon Lowe.

Taylor Walls came through with his 3 RBI in the series with a solo home run that put me on top in the 8th. Peter Fairbanks came in and shut the door in the ninth for my fourth win in a row.
