Day 366

Posted 5 days ago

After a year of perseverance and growth, I’m excited to share that I’ve accepted a UX Developer role with Revive Our Hearts ministry. A friend of mine contacted me a little over a month ago and asked if I was still looking for a job. We had talked earlier last year after I lost my job. Recently, I had reached out to him (and many other connections on LinkedIn) in December mentioning that I was still looking (after 9 months). That was still fresh in his mind when a friend mentioned an opening on his team—one that perfectly matched my skill set.

That phone call led to connecting with digital media director at Revive Our Hearts. The next day, we had a casual conversation to get to know each other and discuss their needs. The following week, I formally applied for the job and had a more in-depth interview a week later. After that, they followed up with my references and asked me to complete a personality profile.

And after several weeks of waiting, I finally got the email I have been looking forward to. A job offer. Finally. Relief, excitement, and gratitude all at once.

This was the most challenging year of my life. It is not something I would have asked for. It definitely not something I wanted to experience. But I am grateful for how this year has shaped me and the unexpected opportunities that it brought. I finally was able to make exercise a habit again. I witnessed friendships rekindled and deepened as friends stood by me, prayed for me, encouraged me along the way, and celebrated when the offer finally came. And I have seen God grow my character as I have clung to Him in faith through this trying year.

Before my new job begins, I plan to take time to reflect on this year’s lessons. I look forward to sharing my insights soon.
