“I want candy”
December 28, 2023
Around Halloween, we were asked “What is our favorite candy?” for our fun Friday question at our team standup meeting. I cannot narrow it down to just one.
I am a sugar-holic. I like a lot of different candies. I am not a big fan of chocolate-covered raisins but I would probably eat them if they were the only thing in the house.
I like a variety of different candies so I always loved the variety I got from trick-or-treating at Halloween. When we go to the movies and buy movie candy (at Walgreens not the theater), I usually pick a different thing each time depending on what mood I am in.
Here are some of my favorites (not in any particular order):
- Snickers
- Twix
- Wild Cherry Lifesavers – This candy has an emotional tie to my Pawpaw (grandfather). I found a bag of them about a year ago at Walmart. I don’t think they make them in just Wild Cherry any longer. I miss the rolls they used to come in.
- Three Musketeers
- Milk Duds (I ended up asking for a box of Milk Duds for my stocking at Christmas)
- Good and Plenty (The manager of Rite Aid was also a fan of Good and Plenty and I felt a special kinship with him)
- M&M’s – plain and peanut
- Almond Joy
- Hershey’s Bar with Almonds
- Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
- Butterfinger
- Baby Ruth
- York Peppermint Patties
- Banana Laffy Taffy
- Bit O’ Honey
- Mike and Ike’s
- Dots
- Junior Mints
- Milky Way
- Kit Kat
- Mr. Goodbar
- Rolos
- Twizzlers
- Skittles jelly beans
- Milka Chocolate bars
- Boci Bars (Hungary)
- Sweet Tarts
- Nerds (I like Nerds in a Grape Slushy from Sonic)
- Skittles
- Whoppers
- Smarties
- Hershey Kisses
- Atkinson’s Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Candy Bars (my Mom loved these. I used to see them at Cracker Barrel and was always tempted to get some)
I was visiting Walgreens a couple of weeks ago when I first thought of the idea of this post. I really wanted to take a picture of their candy display in front of the registers but I would feel too awkward doing that. So I settled for a picture from Unsplash. But I wish I had more gumption and I had gotten that photo. Missed opportunity.
Update: I was at Walgreens on December 31 and took a picture of the candy display. The image at the top of the post has been updated. One of the things I like about publishing on the Internet is that you can update content later.
This post is part of my attempt to post something every day for a month. I was inspired by Michelle Barker, who recently participated in National Blog Posting Month.
