Weeknotes 25:14

Week of March 30–April 5
This week, I took time to journal and reflect on the past year, seeking to uncover the lessons hidden in a challenging season. A friend had shared some thoughtful reflection questions, which helped guide my introspection. I wanted to capture these insights while they were still fresh—before turning the page and beginning a new chapter next week.
What I wrote
- Versions – An archive of the different looks of this website over the years from inception in 2005 to today.
- Two powerful investments to make in your career – Jessica Ivins recently shared two small but powerful ways to invest in your career on LinkedIn. I’ve tried both and wanted to share how they’ve made a difference for me.
- Lessons from a yearlong job search (Publishing on Monday) – Over the past three weeks, I’ve reflected on the past year and what I’ve learned—especially during my job search. This article sharies a few of the professional lessons that stood out.
Smashing Meets
On Tuesday, I attended the online Smashing Meets on Modern CSS. This community meetup featured Miriam Suzanne on The Design of Web Design, which was a dive into the origins of the Web and specifically CSS. Julia Miocene followed with Micro Interactions in Real UI, where she shared simple animation techniques to improve the user experience.
And finally the always energetic and exciting Adam Argyle gave an overview of newer CSS features with plenty of demos. I saw Adam give a similar talk at hover Conference in 2021. Adam does a great job of giving whirlwind tour of new features and whetting your appetite to learn more. It is a great inspirational tour that encourages us to learn and play around with these new tools.
My head was so full that I skipped the panel discussion at the end but plan on watching it later.
