Snow Day 2025

Posted 5 days ago

Two years in a row, we had snowfall that covered the ground. We ended up with five inches of snow at our house. We don’t have a lot of snow days in Chattanooga so when we have days like today, we tend to remember them. I cannot remember having back-to-back years of significant snowfall like we had a year ago and today. I think we had about 2 inches last year.

I would have enjoyed this more if I wasn’t so concerned about my son having to travel back to Murray State on Sunday to start the new semester on Monday. He traveled up to Nashville yesterday to stay with our daughter. We thought it would be better for him to cut the trip in half and not have to travel so far in winter conditions. I am hoping the roads clear up by Sunday.

My youngest daughter coaxed me outside late in the afternoon. We had fun taking pictures, throwing some snowballs, and making a snowman. I am glad that I took advantage of this time to build a memory with her. And it was nice to hang out with her after isolating myself this past week because of COVID-19. I am so glad that no one else in the house got sick. A tribute to my wife’s preparedness and having a plan to put in place.

Snowman that we built. Tree limbs for arms, grass for a mouth, stick for a nose, and two small rocks for eyes. And thin eyebrows of grass.

Abyssinian guinea pig of dark brown, tan, and white fur and big black eyes surrounded by a bed of Timothy hay and bedding.
Our guinea pig, Teddy, enjoyed staying in the warm house and snacking on her Timothy hay.
