Each year, our high school ministry, Student Venture, hosts a getaway conference for executives and their families. The conference provides a platform for Student Venture to share God’s heart for reaching young people and provides the executives and their families an opportunity to partner in this cause.

Last year, I designed and developed a companion Web site to go along with a printed invitation. This year, I came up with a new design that complimented the visual identity of the printed invitation. My colleague chose an Art Deco theme. I stayed with that theme and used several of the graphic elements that he produced for the his print piece.

Because I developed last year’s site with well structured semantic HTML and CSS, it took me very little time to rewrite the CSS to change the visual look for this year. Most of my work was producing the graphics I needed to implement the design.

Scope

  • Visual design and layout
  • XHTML and CSS coding

Key Benefits

  • Well structured HTML and CSS allowed me to develop this site in a day.
  • Consistency of visual identity of the conference. The previous site had carried over the look of Student Venture’s main Web site.
  • Registration form allows executive donors to RSVP online.

Technology

  • PHP coding determined the success message that the user would receive after using the RSVP form. If the user had indicated that they were bringing children, the success message would direct them to further information and forms that they would need for childcare.
  • Standards compliant CSS2 layout
