Refreshed: August 2009

This design is a “refresh” of the redesign I did for the site in the summer of 2008. The refresh incorporated some new graphic elements that were used in both print and video parts of the promotional package.
As part of the refresh, I asked our illustrator to come up with some more scenes for the header graphic so that we would cover more of the diversity of locations of these summer mission projects.
Besides refreshing the visual design, I also put in work behind the scenes to make the site more dynamic. As my skills in WordPress had grown, I wanted to make the site more dynamic and leverage the functionality of WordPress in greater ways.
One example is making the video on the homepage dynamic and tied to the individual page entry. Before, the video was coded manually into the WordPress content post. But I recoded the template to pull this in dynamically when videos were added to the site. I also created a dynamic video gallery page.
